This neighborhood is squeezed between the cities of Seattle and Tacoma, hence the origin of the term. This is a major international hub that reaches regional, national, and global destinations. SEATAC is one of the biggest transportation points in the Pacific Northwest, part of a bigger network that includes airports in Vancouver, Canada and several smaller, regional airports throughout the state.

Getting Around SEATAC

There are three terminals in this extensive airport, and all four are easily accessible via an automated Satellite Transit System. This is a system of three moving walkways that move people from place to place. The transit system dates from the late 1960s, making it the oldest transportation service of it's kind in the United States.

  • Central Terminal. Most of the traffic in this airport takes place in the central terminal. This is where Concourses A through D are located along with 45 departure gates.
  • North Satellite Terminal. This is the smallest of the terminals, equipped with ten gates and some basic amenities.
  • The South Satellite Terminal. Only slightly bigger than its northern counterpart, this terminal is much busier, as this is where the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities are located.
