Why Fly With Qatar Airways

Loyalty Programs, Discounts and Miles Promotions

Qatar Airways offers their own rewards program, Privilege Club, where frequent fliers can take advantage of exclusive membership bonuses. The Privilege Club is a tiered program, Burgundy, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, and each tier offers exclusive benefits to members. Members earn Qpoints on each flight they take with Qatar Airways and also any Oneworld member airline (depending on the route and class of your ticket), so Qpoints can quickly add up to extra tier bonuses for you. In order to move up a tier, you must acquire enough Qpoints during a calendar year.

For every Qatar Airways flight you take, you also collect Qmiles that can be redeemed for flight rewards and are valid for a minimum period of three years, unless you have a Platinum tier membership, in which case your Qmiles will not expire as long as you maintain your Platinum tier status.

Qatar Airways also offers exclusive bonuses to members who have one of their many banking products. Between banking cards and credit cards, frequent Qatar Airways fliers can utilize these services to get Qmiles on everyday purchases—ensuring that their Qmiles go further for each potential passenger. Qmiles can also be redeemed for services outside of Qatar Airways with any one of their prestigious partners. From airline tickets with Oneworld airline members, to car rentals, to hotels and other travel services, Qmiles ensures that you get the best value for all of your travel needs.

How to Check In, Seat Assignment, Leg Room and Other Fees

Passengers with Qatar Airways have a variety of simple ways to check-in, all at their fingertips. Qatar Airways passengers can either check-in online, through their website or by utilizing the Qatar Airways’ App. Qatar Airways tracking for your flight can be checked online or thorough your app prior to your arrival at the airport. If customers are more comfortable with in-person check-in, Qatar Airways recommends that they arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before their flight, as check-in closes 1 hour before departure.

You can check your Qatar Airways flight status and also make a seat selection online or through the app, though depending on the type of ticket and length of your journey, there might be additional costs to choose a seat. Though, for the most part, seat selection is included in the price of your ticket. The price for ticket selection can depend on your Privilege Club membership status, so it’s worthwhile to check and see if you could be saving money by becoming a Privilege Club Member.

Qatar Airways offers a variety of classes to meet its passengers’ needs. From Economy, Business and First Class, Qatar Airways has all of your needs taken care of. For passengers wishing to take extra baggage, or with baggage that is over the allotted weights, there is an excess baggage fee. The fee changes depending on the departure and destination locations, but ranges from $25 USD to $200 USD per extra kilogram, with North American and South American flights being the most expensive to have extra luggage on. There may be a discount applied to your extra luggage if you prepay for it online. Check before your departure and pre-book your luggage to take advantage of any Qatar Airways deals that are offered for pre-booking luggage.

Qatar Airways offers a wide variety of in-flight entertainment for its passengers, from movies to TV box sets, audio, games and much more. Qatar Airways also allows its passengers in-flight connectivity for SMS, MMS messages, email, and internet browsing with OnAir GSM/WiFi service onboard its aircraft. In addition to food, Qatar Airways offers a variety of hot and cold beverages to enjoy—no matter what your preference.

If are flying in First and Business Class and you’d prefer to choose your meal in advance, Qatar Airways allows its First and Business class passengers to pre-select their dining service. Qatar Airways also offers a variety of special meal options for travelers who have specific dietary restrictions. Both pre-select and special meals must be requested at least 24 hours in advance of departure, or at the time you make your Qatar Airways booking, to ensure that you get the meal you need.

Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service Guidelines

When flying with Qatar Airways, your child is free up until they reach 2 years of age as they are able to fly on the lap of a parent or guardian. If 1 parent is traveling with 2 children, then the second child will need its own seat and must be able to sit independently with a seatbelt and must be over 12 months of age. If a parent wishes to travel with two children under the age of 12 months, then there must be a second adult passenger (who is at least 18 years old) for the second child. Children between 2 years and 5 years old are required to have their own seat but are charged a reduced child fare (the child fare is only available on select routes). Children who are between the ages of 5 to 12 years old can travel as unaccompanied minors and are charged an adult fare.

Unaccompanied children will be handed over to the care of Qatar Airways and will be taken care of onboard the aircraft and handed over to the parent or guardian upon arrival. Alternatively, if you wish for your child to have an escort, Qatar Airways offers an escort service for unaccompanied minors, but you are required to contact the airport at least 72 hours in advance. This service is only available for minors between the ages of 5 and 15 and is not available for children who are younger than 5 years of age. The escorted minor must be flying on only Qatar Airways operated flights. To use this service, you will need to purchase both an adult ticket for your child and an additional ticket for the child’s escort.

Pet Policy

On Qatar Airways, passengers can bring a maximum of 2 pets onboard with them and prefers that you notify the airline of your intention to travel with a pet at booking, however, if this isn’t possible, you should let Qatar Airways know that you will be traveling with a pet at least 48 hours before your departure so they can make adequate arrangements. You are able to fly with domestic dogs, cats, and birds as checked baggage on Qatar Airways. If you are flying with a falcon, Qatar Airways allows 1 falcon per passenger with a maximum of 6 total within the aircraft.

Service dogs can fly, free of charge, depending on the route you are traveling. If your pet is traveling as checked baggage, the cost for small to medium animals (up to 32kg) is between $200 USD and $350 USD. For large animals that are between 32kg and 75kg, the cost is between $300 USD and $450 USD. If your animal is above 75kg, then they will need to travel as cargo and special arrangements have to be made with Qatar Airways. If you are making a connection to a Qatar Airways flight, then your pets must travel as cargo as they will not be accepted as excess baggage and will be unable to make the transfer.

Qatar Airways reserves the right to refuse transport of your pet, so be sure that you have all the necessary documentation (health records signed and validated by a veterinarian that state the animal is fit for airline travel, identification papers or a pet passport) and that your pet carrier is of proper size, secured and has adequate ventilation for your pet.
