Highlights of London

For many first-time visitors, seeing the iconic Buckingham Palace is a must. Gaze upon the official home of the UK’s Royal Family and imagine what it must be like to live in such grandeur. If you visit between April and July, you can watch the Changing of the Guard Ceremony each day at around 11:30 AM. The ceremony takes place every other day during other months of the year, though it is weather dependent.

Step inside the formidable walls of the Tower of London, marvel at the gleaming Crown Jewels, watch the jet-black ravens wandering the grounds and see the traditional Beefeaters who guard the regal treasures.

The beautiful Houses of Parliament and its grand clock tower are other top attractions. The clock tower is often erroneously thought to be Big Ben. Big Ben is actually just the large bell within the top of the tower. Feast your eyes upon the architectural delights of Westminster Abbey and St Paul’s Cathedral and, if you enjoy modern buildings, be sure to stop by the Gherkin and the Shard as well. Take a ride on the London Eye to admire the whole of London spread out beneath you.

Myriad of museums and art galleries await, including the renowned British Museum and the Tate Modern. The Natural History Museum is great for children. Other child-friendly attractions and activities in London include London Zoo, Hyde Park, a Harry Potter tour, Madame Tussauds, and the enormous Hamleys toy store. Adults, on the other can, may enjoy shopping in the famous Harrods department store or window shopping along the exclusive Bond Street.

From Covent Garden to Canary Wharf, and from Mayfair to the Square Mile, London is brimming with fun and discoveries. Find your cheap flight to London on Skyscanner and pack your bags!
