Croatia Airlines flights & tickets

Croatia Airlines, based in Zagreb, Croatia, is a regional carrier serving several western European countries, among them Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Greece and the neighbouring Balkan States. The airline has one of the best flight performance records in Europe and is well worth a look for your next European vacation. Let Skyscanner help you find the best routing and rate on this well-run airline.

Croatia Airlines first opened its door in 1989 under the name Zagal Airlines. They started out as a UPS carrier, flying cargo in Cessna 402s. Today the airline's fleet has Airbus 320s, Airbus 319s and Dash 8s. The varied fleet allows Croatia to land in large and small airports, giving passengers many destination options. The smaller Dash 8s are turbo props which fly lower and slower, allowing you to get a better view of the surrounding countryside.

Why Fly With Croatia Airlines

How to Check In

Passenger check-in times vary depending on whether you are flying internationally or domestically. Croatia Airlines advises clients to check in at least two hours ahead of their scheduled flight times, with mandatory check in at least one hour before the flight. Some airports have Check-In kiosks which may be used by passengers holding e-tickets. Information on this service is available at your respective departure airport.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Your baggage allowance varies according to the type of plane you are flying. The Airbus jets can handle more baggage than the Dash 8 aircraft, simply because of space and weight maximums. Excess and oversized baggage is subject to fees.

  • Hand baggage allowance is one bag per passenger in economy and two bags per person for those in business class. Each carry-on may weigh up to 8 kilograms. In some cases, such as on fully booked flights or on smaller aircraft, business class is restricted to one bag.
  • Croatia allows one free check-in bag per each economy passenger. It may weigh up to 23 kilograms, and have a total dimension of no more than 158 centimetres. Business class customers are allowed two bags per person, each weighing up to 32 kilograms with the same dimension restrictions. One free stroller is allowed per child up to age four.
  • Members of the HON Circle, Star Gold Members and Miles and More members with Frequent Traveller status have more generous baggage allowances.
  • Croatia Airlines does code share with other carriers. Code sharing is where a ticket is bought on one carrier, but one or more flight segments are flown on the partner carrier. Baggage requirements may vary in this case.

Seating - Leg Room, Choosing Seats

The Airbus 320 has 174 seats with a three-seat on either side of the middle aisle configuration. The Airbus 319, which is shorter, has 144 seats with the same seat configuration. The Dash 8-Q400 has 76 seats, with one row of single seats on one side of the cabin and a two-seat row on the other. Legroom is average, with usually a bit more in the Dash aircraft. Seating may be assigned online, at the airport Check-In kiosks or at the counter.

Booking Fees

Booking fees vary depending on what class of service you are booked in and mostly pertain to cancellation and change fees. In all cases, name changes are not permitted, and the ticket must be cancelled and re-booked. If you are flying on an economy ticket, the original ticket is non-refundable. Business class travellers pay a 30 Euro fee, about $45.00 CAD. Changing a ticket on some economy flights, other than name changes, is allowed, at a cost of 60 Euros or $95.00 CAD. Business passengers pay no change fees.
