    Why Fly Air Transat

Air Miles Loyalty Rewards and Promotions

Air Transat is a division of Transat AT, an international tourism company based in Montreal. Transat is partnered with Air Miles, one of the country’s leading rewards programs that spans across multiple affiliates in travel and hospitality.

As one of the largest loyalty programs in Canada, Air Miles offers you the opportunity to earn mileage on almost all purchases. When you pay with your Collectors Card, you can earn on everyday spending like gas and groceries to accumulate points rapidly. These points can then be redeemed with participating rewards partners for perks like electronics, movie tickets, home appliances, and travel with associates such as Air Transat.

In addition to the Air Miles loyalty program, Air Transat also offers annual contests for flight and vacation package giveaways. Browse the “Contests” page of the website or explore the airline’s social media to stay up to date on contests, promotions, and seat sales.

Check In, Seat Selection, and Additional Seating Fees

Online check in with Air Transat is available at most airports from 24 to 2 hours before your scheduled departure time. You have the option to print your boarding pass at home or receive a digital copy sent to your mobile device, which will then be scanned at the airport. If you are travelling on a codeshare flight, or are a special care passenger such as an unaccompanied minor, you are not able to check in online.

You are also welcome to check in at the airport desk or at one of the self-serve kiosks available at most Canadian airports. Check in closes one hour prior to your departure.

A ticket in Economy class includes a comfortable leather seat, while Club Class offers more legroom and reclining seats for additional relaxation. If you are travelling in Eco Promo or Eco, you have the option to select your seat up to 24 hours before departure, with fees starting at $30. Charges for seat selection may vary depending upon your destination, with additional fees for seats with extra legroom. Tickets in Eco Extra, Eco Max, and Club Class include seat selection in the price, and seat reservations can be made at the time of online check in.

    Baggage Allowance and Additional Charges

A ticket in Economy or Option Plus with Air Transat includes one piece of carry on luggage weighing up to 10kg free of charge, or up to 15kg for those in Club Class. You are also welcome to bring small personal items such as purses and camera bags.

Checked baggage allowances and charges vary depending upon destination. For domestic flights within Canada, and flights between Canada and the U.S., a ticket in Eco or Eco Promo includes no checked luggage. Charges start at $25 for your first bag weighing up to 23kg, and increase with additional baggage and weight. Eco Extra includes one free checked bag up to 23kg, while Eco Max includes two. Club Class offers two free pieces of checked luggage weighing up to 25kg each. For all classes, a charge of $75 applies to any piece of checked baggage that exceeds the weight limit.

On Board Entertainment, Service, and Dining

For all ticket classes on board Air Transat flights, you have access to an extensive selection of on-board entertainment. Individual touch screens located on the seat in front of you offer a variety of programming with the newest popular TV and films. You can download the CinePlus app onto your mobile device, and enjoy entertainment on your smartphone or iPad. On board all flights, Atmosphere magazine offers fun information and travel tips for your next getaway.

Meal selection is dependent upon your destination, with small snacks available for purchase on all flights. For domestic flights and those between Canada and the U.S., only Club Class includes complimentary dining. All other ticket tiers have the option to purchase a meal from the Bistro Menu available on board. On flights from Canada to Europe, all tickets include a meal free of charge, while passengers travelling in Club Class receive a gourmet meal.

With the exception of pre-cleared flights to the U.S., duty free shopping is available on all international flights and includes luxury items such as chocolates, alcohol, and perfumes.

As part of a growing philanthropic effort by the airline, Air Transat also offers a coin charity on board all flights. You are welcome to leave small change of all currencies in the marked envelope available in the seat pocket, which will then be donated to charitable organizations including the Children’s Wish Foundation and SOS Children’s Villages.

Air Transat Kids Club and Minors Guidelines

For families travelling with children, Air Transat offers the Kids Club program for additional fun and comfort on your journey. Children ages 2 – 11 are welcomed to the program free of charge, with sign up available online or over the phone.

Advantages of the program include free seat selection for members, subject to availability, as well as priority baggage and boarding, and travel treats for your children.

Infants under the age of two receive a reduced seat rate if they travel on your lap, while children age 2 – 11 may be eligible for discounts depending upon your destination. Child friendly meals are available on board all flights, and staff can warm up baby food brought from home, although none is available for purchase on the aircraft. Both the in flight entertainment system and the CinePlus app include family friendly programming for all ages.

If your child is between the ages of 8-11 and is travelling alone, they are required to participate in the unaccompanied minor program at an additional cost of $100. The service includes an escort from the airline, as well as free snacks and priority boarding. Youth aged 12-17 are allowed to travel independently, but are also welcome to pay for use of the unaccompanied minor service.

    Travelling with Pets

Air Transat offers a limited animal policy. Only cats and dogs are accepted on board flights, and may only travel in the hold of the aircraft. Bookings for pets must be made at least three days in advance, as a limited number of spaces are available.

The maximum combined weight of your pet and carrier cannot exceed 32kg. There is a $75 fee for travelling with your pet on domestic flights within Canada, while rates for international travel begin at $150. Regulations regarding documentation and holding times vary from country to country, so check with your destination airport before booking a flight with your pet.

If you are travelling with a certified service animal, they are welcome to travel with you in the cabin free of charge.
