Lima is considered one of the centers of Peru (mainly because its your access point to travel to from other countries). The city is very modern and shows different aspects of the culture you won't see in other cities. But I was very underwhelmed at how the city has lost a little bit of it's history to keep up with the time. It's also very smogy and dirty. It was nice to go for a 2 day trip but you really don't need a ton of time here as a lot of the ruins and history are all on the outskirts of the actual city.
Lima is a city full of beauty, history, and lots to do. Each district in Lima has a different little something to offer. The food is incredible, and everything is generally inexpensive.
This is the capital of Peru and lies on the country's arid Pacific coast. Though its colonial center is preserved, it's a bustling metropolis and one of South America’s largest cities.Great architecture, terrific people watching.
The more of Lima I see, the more I like it. Its neighborhoods are colorful and loud, calm and poised, eclectic and unique. The people are quite nice, if a little cautious, and it's easy to make friends. There's a big food scene here, so for all you foodies out there, definitely check out the list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants and Latin America's 50 Best -- you'll find some of the top locales here in Lima.
