Kiwi Regional Airlines Cheap Flights and Travel Deals

Kiwi Regional Airlines was a domestic New Zealand carrier first established in 2014. After beginning operations in the fall of 2015, the airline ceased service in July of 2016. Other local airlines including Air Chathams now operate the fleet and routes formerly serviced by Kiwi Regional Airlines.

Based out of Hamilton, New Zealand, Kiwi Regional Airlines offered flights between several major cities within the country. Popular destinations included Nelson, Hamilton, Tauranga, and Dunedin, with plans to include a Christchurch route before the company closed.

During the brief period of active service, the airline operated one 34-seat Saab 340A jet. The fleet size proved a challenge for the small business, which had the option to either purchase a second aircraft or be absorbed into a larger airline. Shareholders dictated that the airline sell the single jet in operation. Air Chathams, another popular New Zealand carrier, purchased the Saab 340A, which continues to service regional routes under the new carrier.
