Cheap Flights to Syria

Since November 2011, Syria has been a precarious destination for Canadian and international travellers. During this time, an uprising began against the Assad regime, which threw the country into a brutal civil war. While the exact number of causalities is unknown, most experts agree that around 400,000 people have lost their lives. Syrians who managed to escaped the violence have become refugees, who are indefinitely exiled from their homeland and face a harsh, often uncertain future.

Tourists are strongly advised against travelling to Syria. This once beautiful, welcoming country is now one of the most dangerous places on Earth. Devastating bombings, violent attacks, and other assaults can occur without warning. Until the political situation stabilizes, Syria's current climate is too hostile and foreigners are at great risk.

Airports in Syria

For Canadians, visas are required before entering Syria. Prior to the Syrian Civil War, there were four international airports, Damascus International Airport (DAM), Aleppo International Airport (ALP), Bassel Al-Assad International Airport (LTK), and Qamishli Airport (KAC). However, almost every major airline has ceased its flights into the war torn nation. Syria's airports also risk being closed to civilians at any time.

Travel Advisory

The Canadian Government warns against any travel into the country of Syria. Travellers are strongly discouraged from making this trip. Indeed, upon the outbreak of civil war in 2011, Canadians have been urged to exit immediately. Arriving and departing from Syria is incredibly difficult, due to airports being closed with little to no notice. Most airlines have also suspended their flights indefinitely.
