How to Check In, Seat Assignment, Leg Room and Other Fees
Passengers with EVA Air have a variety of check-in methods to choose from—from tech-savvy to traditional. Passengers looking to avoid long lines are able to check-in from their home computer up to 24 hours before and 3 hours prior to their departure. However, not all locations are able for online check-in, so be sure to check with EVA Air prior to your departure to be sure that you can check-in online. For those passengers who are eligible, you are able to make seat selections as well as print your boarding pass from home (access to a printer is needed). Passengers are also able to download the EVA Air application and sign in through their smartphone and also check the status of their flight, see special offers from EVA Air, book more flights, and more.
Additionally, passengers are able to use self-check-in kiosks at the airport where they can select seats, print their boarding pass and skip the check-in line. EVA Air passengers are allotted a generous baggage allowance, with fees in place for passengers who need more than their ticket class allows for. Each passenger in Economy/Premium Economy class is allotted one piece of carry-on baggage with a weight maximum of 7kg and a dimension max of 23 x 36 x 56cm. For Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel/ Business class, passengers are allotted two pieces of baggage with a weight maximum of 7kg each and a dimension max of 23 x 36 x 56cm. All carry-on baggage must be able to fit under the seat in front of you, or securely within overhead bins. If your carry-on baggage doesn’t fit within the required dimensions/weight requirements, then it will have to be checked. Passengers of any class are also allowed one personal item, in addition to their carry-on bag allowance (items such as purses, backpacks, camera case, some duty-free merchandise).
EVA Air’s checked baggage allowance depends on the arrival destination and airport, so it is a good idea to confirm with the airline if you have any specific requests or special items to bring with you. Generally, however, baggage allowance is tied to ticket class.

Additionally, on select flights, passengers who need to stay connected are invited to use their phone’s SMS roaming, as in-flight text messaging is available on select planes, as well as in-flight satellite phones. On select flights, Royal Laurel and Premium Laurel Classes passengers are able to use their seatback to navigate through their USB devices, and in most classes, 110V AC outlets are also available to charge passenger laptops as well.
Meals are included in the price of your ticket on EVA Air and Royal Laurel/Premium Laurel classes are able to pre-order their meals up to 24 hours before departure (aside from special meal requests). If you are lucky enough to be flying in one of EVA Air’s “Hello Kitty” airplanes, then you can opt for the “Hello Kitty” meal (though they are generally meant for children). Otherwise, a variety of meal and drink options are available for your selection. EVA Air does make special meal accommodations for passengers as well. For regular special meal requests (vegetarian, baby, dietary restrictions), please give EVA Air at least 24 hours notice and for Kosher meals, please give EVA Air at least 72 hours notice prior to your departure.
Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service Guidelines
Children who haven’t yet reached 2 years of age are able to fly on the lap of a parent or adult guardian for a reduced fee (10% of the guardian’s adult fare). Only one child per lap is permitted, so any parents or guardians traveling with more than one child will have to purchase a seat for the second child. If the second child cannot yet safely sit on its own, the guardian must either provide a bassinette or safety seat for the child or arrange to have one provided by the airline. Be sure to give EVA Air ample time when requesting a bassinette as they are limited in quantity.
For Unaccompanied Minors, children between the ages of 5-12 years of age are able to fly on EVA Air unaccompanied, however, the number of unaccompanied minors is limited for each plane. Please contact EVA Air directly through their ticketing office for further instructions on the fees associated with traveling Unaccompanied Minors and the requirements as they are specific to the route your child will be traveling.
On EVA Air, passengers traveling with pets are required to contact EVA Air prior to their departure date so that they can confirm their breed and species of pet. Animals are only allowed to travel as checked baggage on EVA Air flights and there are specific breeds and species that are banned from flight entirely. Be sure to call EVA Air or check their website prior to booking to be certain that your pet is able to fly with EVA Air.
In order to check your pet as baggage with EVA Air, your pets is required to be in a solid, leak, escape and claw-proof container and needs to be large enough that your pet can comfortably stand and turn around inside the container, with sufficient food and water feeding apparatuses attached to the side of the container. EVA Airlines has no weight restrictions for pets except for keeping in line with whatever structural limitations the specific aircraft might have, however, no more than two animals (weighing a maximum of 14kg each) can be transported in the same kennel. Pets traveling on EVA Air are charged at the same rate as excess baggage according to their total weight (pet, food, container). Pets that are less than 32kg will be charged at a rate of twice the normal excess baggage fee; pets that are over 32kg will be charged at a rate of three times the normal excess baggage fee.
