Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service Guidelines

On PIA Flights, all children must be accompanied by an adult passenger, no exceptions, but children are offered flight discounts, depending on their age. Children who have not reached 2 years of age are not required to have their own seat, instead, they are able to travel on the lap of their guardian. The fee for children traveling on their parent’s lap is 10% of the accompanying adult fare. If an adult is traveling with more than one child, then a second seat will have to be purchased as only one child per adult passenger is permitted. Be sure that if your child cannot sit up properly on its own that you bring a bassinette or safety seat for your child to sit in during the flight.

For children who are under the age of 2 and require a seat, and for children between the ages of 2-12 years of age, the fare is 75% of the adult fare. Children who are 12 years of age or older are required to pay for a full fare.

If any younger travelers are also students, they qualify for a 10% discount on all domestic flights in the Economy cabin. Be sure to show your student identification during ticketing the next time you fly domestically with PIA and save!

Pet Policy

On your next flight with PIA, there’s no need to keep your pet at home. PIA welcomes many pets onto its flights, though only certain species and breeds are able to ride along inside of the main cabin. Dogs, cats, and pet birds are able to fly in the main cabin while larger dogs, cats, reptiles, and larger birds are able to travel in the hold of the aircraft. If you are traveling with your pet in the main cabin, the requirements for your pet’s carrier and weight are:

  • Carrier size maximum dimensions: 30 x 18 x 40cm.
  • Carrier maximum weight (including pet): 7kg.

For pets that are traveling in the hold of the aircraft:

  • Carrier size maximum dimensions: 89 x 58 x 101cm.
  • Carrier maximum weight (including pet): dependent on airline availability and specifications. Contact the airline prior to departure to ensure your pet is able to travel in the hold.

If neither the cabin nor the airplane’s hold is an option for your pet, you can reach out to PIA’s Air Cargo management service and see if it’s possible to send your pet as cargo. Pets do not count towards your free baggage allowance and excess baggage fees apply to both your pet and its carrier (based on the weight of both). Passengers are responsible for all valid health records and any entry permits for your destination. Many countries have quarantines in effect for pets and passengers are responsible for complying with all laws concerning the importation of their pet.
