Departing From Paris

Flights from Paris to Madrid depart from Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Orly Airport (ORY). As this is a popular route, there are daily non-stop flights between the two cities. The route is served by major airlines like Iberia and Air France, as well as budget carriers such as easyJet, Transavia and Air Europa. Although passengers will not go through immigration when traveling between France and Spain, Canadian travelers are still required to carry a valid passport for this journey.

From Charles de Gaulle Airport, flights heading to Madrid usually depart from Terminal 2 or Terminal 3. Complimentary shuttle services run between all three of the airport’s terminals. Take note that Terminal 2 is particularly large and you will need to leave extra time in your schedule to get to your gate (especially if you’re leaving from 2G, which is only accessible via a bus that departs every fifteen minutes).

From Orly Airport, flights to Madrid depart from both the South (Sud;) and West (Ouest;) Terminals. The two are linked by a free train service, or you can walk between them in about ten minutes. Check the information screens inside the airport to see which terminal your flight will be leaving from.

Arriving in Madrid

Madrid Airport (formally known as Madrid-Barajas International Airport, and identified by the symbol MAD) has four terminals, and flights from Paris land at all four. While it is easy to walk between Terminal 1, 2 and 3, Terminal 4 is located four kilometers away and is connected to the rest of the airport by shuttle bus. Terminal 4 also has a satellite terminal (4S) which is connected to Terminal 4 by automatic peoplemover.

To accommodate travelers arriving in Madrid, frequent shuttle buses and the local metro system connect all four terminals with the city center. If you don’t want to use public transportation, it is also easy to hire a taxi or rent a car at Madrid Airport.
