Flying out of Nice Cote D'Azur Airport
With over twelve million passengers served per year, Nice Cote D'Azur Airport (NCE) is one of France's busiest airports. The airport is located about 7 km south of Nice, along the beautiful coast of the French Riviera (or Cote D'Azur). The airport is a focus city for Air France and EasyJet, both of which offer direct flights from Nice to Paris. Both airlines fly out of NCE's Terminal 2.
Passengers flying from Nice to Paris should plan to arrive about two hours before the scheduled flight departure to check in and pass through security checks. You will need to bring a valid passport. At Terminal 2, there are dozens of shops and services to keep you busy while you wait, from full-service restaurants and high-end clothing boutiques to small cafes and newsstands. For about $45 CAD, you can also access a V.I.P. lounge complete with comfortable seating areas, recreation areas, and complimentary refreshments. Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout the airport.
Paris Airport Options
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is the largest and busiest airport in France, with over 65 million passengers served per year. It is also one of the busiest airports in all of Europe. The airport is the site for one of Air France's main offices and is also a focus city for EasyJet. Air France currently operates out of Terminal 2F and EasyJet operates out of Terminal 2D. All terminals at CDG are connected by pedestrian walkways and shuttle buses.
Charles de Gaulle Airport is located quite far from Paris, at about 25 km northeast. By bus, a ride into Central Paris will take over an hour. Busses run every 20 minutes throughout most of the day. You can cut your journey time in half by taking the train instead for about $17 CAD per ride. Taxis are also available outside of each terminal, with a ride into the city costing about $85 CAD. Car rental service counters are also available in each terminal at CDG.
Located about 13 km south of Paris, Paris Orly Airport (ORY) is another great option for flights from Nice to Paris. Just like at CDG, Air France and EasyJet both operate direct flights between the two locations. Air France flies into the West Terminal and EasyJet flies into the South Terminal. Ground transportation options include trains, buses, and taxis. The airport is also connected to one of the country's main highways, giving those renting cars an easy drive into the city.
What to Expect in Paris
Though they are located on opposite sides of the country, flights from Nice to Paris are quite short and there is no time difference between the cities. However, the weather in the two locations is slightly different. While the summers in Nice can be hot and dry, the summers in Paris are milder and more comfortable. The spring and summer months in Paris are usually pleasant as well but can be subject to some unexpected cold snaps. Winter days in both cities are usually cool. However, in Paris, cold weather, frost, and snow are possibilities whereas in Nice, snow is extremely rare.
Another key difference between the two cities involves their tourist attractions. Nice is perhaps best known for the natural beauty of the nearby French Riviera as well as the city's comfortable, pleasant climate. In Paris, many of the biggest attractions are indoor spots like the Louvre Museum and the Notre Dame Cathedral as well as world-famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower.
