Travel requirements to Mexico for Canadian citizens

Travellers do not need a visa for Business or Tourism stays up to 180 days. Travellers need a visa for longer stays.

Travellers visiting the state of Baja California Sur for more than 24 hours are required to pay a tourism tax of MXN 488.00.

This requirement doesn’t apply to the following travellers:

• Travellers visiting other states in Mexico;
• Mexican nationals.

The payment can be made online before arriving in Mexico. A QR code receipt will be issued as proof of payment and may be requested at entry or exit points.

Travellers visiting the state of Quintana Roo are required to pay a tourism tax (Visitax) of MXN 293.00. This requirement doesn’t apply to the following travellers:

• Travellers visiting other states in Mexico;
• Mexican nationals.

Travellers who hold Mexican citizenship in addition to another nationality are required to present themselves as Mexican nationals when entering or departing Mexico. Travellers entering on a foreign passport may be subject to tourist stay limits and additional immigration requirements.

Travellers need a valid passport to enter Mexico. The traveller's passport must remain valid throughout the traveller's stay in Mexico.
