      Travel requirements to Cape Verde for Canadian citizens

      If you're travelling from Canada to Cape Verde, the first step is understanding the visa requirements. Securing the right visa makes your entry into Cape Verde as smooth as possible. Let's explore all the necessary travel documents, visa types, and health requirements for Canadian citizens visiting Cape Verde.

      Cape Verde visa requirements for Canadian citizens

      Travellers need travel authorization to visit Cape Verde for Business or Tourism stays up to 30 days. Travellers need a visa for longer stays.

      The Electronic Travel Authorization (EASE) for Cape Verde is required for visa-exempt visitors entering Cape Verde. It is an online application. If approved, travellers will receive an eTA confirmation electronically. When travellers arrive in Cape Verde, the border crossing will ask for a passport and check electronic records to ensure travellers have the proper visa.

      An EASE is electronically linked to the passport and valid for up to 1 year. When travellers receive a new passport, they must apply for a new eTA. For all other visas, please visit the government site.

      Travellers should complete the EASE application online a minimum of 5 days before travelling to Cape Verde.

      Travellers unable to complete the EASE before arrival can complete the EASE upon arrival, but may be subject to an additional fee.

      This EASE approval is not required for the following travellers:

      • Travellers under the age of 2;
      • Travellers in transit through Cape Verde;
      • Residents upon presentation of a Residence Permit, Residence Visa, or another valid identification document.

      Travellers need a valid passport to enter Cape Verde. The traveller's passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after the traveller arrives in Cape Verde.

      Travellers should consider:

      • Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines;
      • Typhoid vaccine for visits to smaller cities or rural areas;
      • Routine vaccines including Measles.

      Additional vaccine recommendations may apply. Consult your healthcare provider and check the source for details.
