      Travel requirements to Brunei for Canadian citizens

      If you're travelling from Canada to Brunei, the first step is understanding the visa requirements. Securing the right visa makes your entry into Brunei as smooth as possible. Let's explore all the necessary travel documents, visa types, and health requirements for Canadian citizens visiting Brunei.

      Brunei visa requirements for Canadian citizens

      Travellers need a visa to visit Brunei for Business.

      Travellers must obtain a paper or embassy visa from an embassy, consulate or visa center before travelling.

      Travellers do not need a visa for Tourism stays up to 90 days. Travellers need a visa for longer stays.

      All travellers must register via E-Arrival Card before arrival to Brunei. The documents needed for the E-Arrival Card registration are a valid travel document or passport, an address in Brunei Darussalam, and flight information.

      This registration requirement doesn’t apply to the following travellers:

      • Travellers who are transiting through Brunei without going through the immigration control post;
      • Travellers who are Bruneian citizens and residents.

      Registration via E-Arrival Card is mandatory for all foreign nationals entering Brunei Darussalam.

      Travellers need a valid passport to enter Brunei. The traveller's passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after the traveller arrives in Brunei.

      Travellers should consider:

      • Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines;
      • Typhoid vaccine for visits to smaller cities or rural areas;
      • Routine vaccines including Measles;
      • Japanese Encephalitis vaccine for extended stays or rural activities (not recommended for short-term travel to urban areas or travel to areas with no clear Japanese Encephalitis season).

      Additional vaccine recommendations may apply. Consult your healthcare provider and check the source for details.

      All travellers must complete a health declaration form in BruHealth app before arrival to Brunei.

      Travellers are recommended to have travel health insurance when visiting Brunei.
      Insurance should cover the full duration of stay, emergency medical treatment, and hospitalisation, and must be issued by a recognised company, either local or international.
