Flying from Saskatoon to Toronto

Flying from Saskatoon to Toronto takes a medium-haul flight. Both WestJet and Air Canada fly the route, and you have plenty of flexibility for the times that you get. Here are tips to keep in mind to make the most of your flight.

Flying out of Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International

Saskatoon’s airport was named the best small airport in North America -- for everything from on-time performance to passenger service. You’ll notice it, too. The airport was recently renovated, and you won’t miss how modern and new everything looks. The airport has all the amenities, and everything just works -- there is good Wi-Fi, there are a games room, a business center, children’s play areas, cushioned benches that you can stretch out on, and no big lines, anywhere. It’s important to remember, however, that while the airport is open 24 hours a day, most dining and shopping outlets close at 8 in the evening.

The best way to get to the airport is by hotel shuttle or city bus. Taxis drop you by the curbside, as well.

Arriving at Toronto Pearson

Pearson International may appear somewhat a contrast after Saskatoon’s gleamingly renovated spaces. Pearson, however, serves the largest and most densely populated region of the country, and it hasn’t been renovated in a long time.

The airport has two terminals (you move between them by way of the Terminal Link airport train). From luggage to security, there are long walks and long waits everywhere, and you need to go in prepared. If you’re catching a connecting flight, you need to make sure you have plenty of time.

If you’re spending the night at the airport, it certainly is possible at one of the various designated rest zones: the CIBC Welcome Center, the Lounge 15, or the sleep pods. Gratefully the airport has sleeper-friendly seating – long, cushioned benches without armrests. When you’re ready to leave, there are showers, medical services, a manicure.

Getting to the city or another place, one of the Toronto Transit Commission’s various bus routes is likely to be ideal. They are frequent, efficient and cheap. If you’d like to travel on a Go Transit or Brampton Transit Airport Express, these services cover various parts of the city, as well. The Union Pearson Express train departs every 15 minutes to go to downtown Toronto, as well. Of course, taxis -- the regular kind or Uber -- are always an option.

Since the airport tends to be crowded, it would be best to give yourself plenty of time for whatever you plan to do when you arrive in the city. You don’t want to cut it too close.

Having fun in Toronto

Toronto has enough to keep you occupied for weeks. If you are interested in seeing all the sights, remember to get a Toronto City Pass -- a booklet of tickets that costs about US$60 -- and covers attractions such as the CN Tower, the zoo, Ripley’s aquarium, the Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Science Centre, and Casa Loma. You’ll see everything at a saving, and it’ll be a great way to get yourself started off. For more such cost-saving tips, visit Skyscanner.
