Flying out of London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is easily the busiest of London's six international airports. In fact, it is also the busiest airport in all of Europe. The airport is located about 23 km from London and is served by dozens of airlines flying worldwide.
London Heathrow is made up of four passenger terminals. Terminals 2 and 3 are close enough to walk between and Terminals 4 and 5 are connected via the airport's express train and bus services. Each terminal is outfitted with luxury shopping, countless dining options, private lounges and free Wi-Fi for you to enjoy as you wait for your flight.
It is recommended to be at the airport at least three hours before your flight from London to Paris is scheduled to depart. If in total, your visit to France and to other Schengen Area member countries will not exceed 90 days, Canadians will not need to obtain a visa.
Paris Airport Options
Paris is served by two international airports, Paris Orly Airport (ORY) and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). Though Paris Orly is the smaller of the two, serving about half the amount of passengers as CDG, it is by no means a quiet airport. ORY serves over 30 million passengers per year.
British Airways is currently the only airline flying direct from LHR to ORY, but this route is set to be discontinued in late 2017. The airline will, however, continue operating direct flights from LHR to Paris Charles de Gaulle. Air France also flies direct from London Heathrow to CDG. CDG is made up of three passenger terminals. Terminal 2 is then separated into seven sub-terminals. British Airways uses Terminal 2A and Air France uses Terminal 2E. The terminals and sub-terminals are all connected by a series of shuttle trains and busses.
Transportation links available at the airport include access to the RER B line of Paris's rapid transit system as well as other public transit busses. Taxis are available at the curb outside of each terminal. A ride into downtown Paris via taxi will take about 45 minutes and cost approximately $90 CAD. Car rental service counters can be found in Terminal 1 and in all seven subsections of Terminal 2.
