Check In and Seating Assignment

Checking in is easy with Norwegian airlines. You can check in online for most flights within Europe, or at the airport counter for all destinations.

Online check in can be completed in three ways. The first is through the ticket that is sent to you on your departure day. If you provided your phone number when booking your ticket, Norwegian will send you a text message two hours before your scheduled departure. Simply click the link to check in, then scan your mobile boarding pass when you get to the airport.

The second method is through the Travel Assistant app. After you check in on the app, a boarding pass will be sent to your mobile device which can then be scanned at security.

Finally, you can check in through the website. Visit your booking on the My Travels page and follow the prompts to receive your digital boarding pass.

For some destinations, you may be required to check in at the airport. Domestic check in opens two hours before departure, or two to three hours for international routes. If you are travelling with pets, as an unaccompanied minor, or with a musical instrument, you will also be required to check in at the airport at least one hour before your departure.

All tickets except for LowFare come with seat selection. Before you check in, select your preferred seat online. A service charge will apply if you wish to change your seat once you have arrived at the airport.

If you are travelling in LowFare, you are welcome to select a seat for an additional charge. Seats at the front of the plane and seats with extra legroom are also available for purchase.

Baggage Allowance and Additional Charges

Each ticket with Norwegian airlines includes one piece of carry on luggage and one small personal item. The carry on bag has maximum dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm, while the personal item is 25 x 33 x 20 cm. Your carry on weight allowance is dependant upon the type of fare you have purchased. If you are travelling in LowFare, LowFare+, or Premium, the combined weight of both items may not exceed 10 kg. For those in Flex or PremiumFlex, the maximum combined weight is 15 kg.

Your fare type determines whether checked bags are included in your ticket. LowFare does not include any checked baggage allowance, while LowFare+ includes one bag up to 20 kg. Flex, Premium, and PremiumFlex each include two bags of up to 20 kg. The maximum dimensions for any given piece of luggage are 250 x 79 x 112 cm.

If your ticket does not include any checked luggage, or if you wish to bring additional luggage, you may purchase it online or through the call centre up to six hours before your flight. You can also buy checked bags at the airport, however this will be more costly than purchasing in advance.

In-Flight Dining and Entertainment

A selection of snacks and drinks are available for purchase on board all Norwegian flights. A three course meal is served on board international long haul flights. If you are travelling in LowFare or Flex and wish for a meal on these flights, you can preorder one online or through a service agent.

Free Wi-Fi is offered on board most European routes. Use your mobile device to connect to the Video On Demand service, where you can rent a selection of TV and movies. Live TV is also available to watch on your device.

For long-haul international flights, aircraft are equipped with personal screens where you can enjoy a selection of entertainment options.

All flights have the “n by Norwegian” in-flight magazine for you to enjoy. Child and family friendly options are available on the entertainment systems.

Infant Fares and Minor Service Guidelines

Infants under two years of age who sit on your lap will travel free of charge on all domestic flights. On international flights, infants are charged 10% of the corresponding adult fare. This discount does not apply to Premium or PremiumFlex tickets.

Children between the ages of two and eleven pay 75% of the adult fare. This discount does not apply to Premium, PremiumFlex, or LowFare tickets. Infants who sit in their own seat will be charged a child fare.

If your child is five to eleven years old and travelling alone, they must register for the unaccompanied minor program. Between twelve and fifteen years, this program is optional. The unaccompanied minor service must be booked at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure, and requires that your child check in at the airport.

Travelling with Pets

Pets are welcome on select routes with Norwegian airlines. Your cat or dog can travel with you in the cabin, provided the pet and crate crate do not exceed dimensions of 43 x 31 x 20 cm and a weight of 8 kg. Larger containers may be transported in the hold, with maximum dimensions of 125 x 81 x 86 cm. Animals must be checked in at the airport at least one hour prior to departure.

For a full list of which routes are available for pet transport, browse the Travelling with Pets page of the Norwegian airlines website.
