IndiGo flights & tickets

IndiGo is rated one of the best low-fare domestic air carriers and is not only India's preferred but also largest airline, with a market share of almost 40 percent. It prides itself with high operational reliability and hassle-free travel. Here is an overview of what this airline with award-winning service offers.

India's biggest low-cost airline is headquartered in Gurgaon. Their prime hub is Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi. IndiGo was founded in 2006 and flies to 44 destinations in India but also operates flights to Singapore, Nepal, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates. In total, it flies to six international destinations.

Why Fly IndiGo?

How to Check In

The online check-in is accessible 48 hours before takeoff and is open until two hours before planned departure. However, checking in online is only possible if no baggage will be checked. People traveling with infants, wheelchair users, or minors may not use the web check-in and have to go to the check-in counter starting two hours before takeoff.

Baggage Allowance and Fees

One piece of hand luggage plus a personal item are allowed as free carry-on items. The dimensions for carry-on luggage are the following: length 55 cm + width 35 cm + height 25 cm. The weight may not exceed 7 kg, which includes the personal item. When flying international, 20 kg per checked bag are granted; 15 kg on domestic flights.

Travelers can choose seats upon online check-in. There are no additional costs for the middle seats row 14-20, as well as the window, middle, and aisle seats in rows 21-30. An additional fee for the aisle and window seats in rows 14-20, as well as the window, middle, and aisle seat in row 11 will be charged. Seats in rows 1, 12, 13, and 2-10 come with a price tag, but they do offer additional legroom or are wider. Some seats cannot be reclined due to the exit behind. The seat prices vary on domestic and international flights.

Booking Fees

IndiGo offers great low-fare prices but charges for additional baggage. On international flights, 20 kg of baggage are free; on domestic flights, the free allowance is 15 kg. There are fees for any additional baggage. Travelers flying with infants or wanting their itinerary printed can expect an additional fee. Customers should be aware that IndiGo charges a convenience fee when booking.

Onboard Amenities

Because IndiGo is a low-fare airline, the 128 aircrafts, including 16 new generation A320neos, consist of one single economy-class cabin. Meals, snacks, and drinks can be purchased. Your own food and drink are welcome, however, and water is served free of charge on all IndiGo flights.
