Alitalia flights & tickets

Alitalia, Italy’s flagship air carrier, has been operating since 1999 with hubs at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome and Linate Airport in Milan. The company is the eleventh-largest airline in Europe, and while Alitalia has struggled in the last decade, a recent investment from powerhouse Etihad Airways is expected to boost flight quality and passenger experience in the near future.

The company runs a modern fleet and participates in the extensive SkyTeam codeshare alliance, which includes such popular airlines as Delta Air Lines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Air France. In 2016, it won the award for “Best Airline Cuisine” from Global Traveler Magazine for the seventh year in a row.

Find great Alitalia deals using the comprehensive Skyscanner search interface. Enter your dates and mark other preferences, and Skyscanner will show you fare results across all Alitalia’s destinations. No fees, no hassle. Buon viaggio!

Why Fly with Alitalia

Check In

Checking in to an Alitalia flight is a breeze on the airline’s convenient website. A drop-down menu provides detailed instructions for checking in online or through the Alitalia mobile app. The mobile app also supports a number of other features, including mobile boarding passes which are available offline, Alitalia flight schedules, and real-time flight statuses. For those who prefer to check in at the airport, Alitalia offers automated Fast Check-in kiosks, which speed up the process and help you avoid long lines.

Travel Classes

On Alitalia, you can choose from one of four travel classes: economy, premium economy, business class medium haul, and business class long haul. All offer the standard amenities one expects from a mid-range airline, such as personal television screens that provide onboard entertainment, at least one free checked bag, and complimentary refreshments and meals on longer flights. Like on other carriers, the premium economy and business classes bring with them priority check-in and boarding, more comfortable seats (those in business class long haul fold down into beds), and additional baggage allowances. Additionally, a new light fare on flights within Europe presents a low-cost option for travelers who only have a carry-on bag.

Seats

Passengers in economy class can normally select their seats in advance free of charge on the Alitalia website. The site makes this easy to do by providing seat maps of all its aircraft. The company also offers Extra Comfort Seats, which can be chosen for an additional fee, the amount of which depends on the flight time but does not exceed €85 per travel segment. Extra Comfort Seats provide significantly more legroom than regular seats and often are located closer to the front of the cabin.
