Departing from London Heathrow Airport
London Heathrow is one of the largest and busiest airports in the world, with hundreds of shops and restaurants to browse through while you wait for your flight. There are showers, family areas, lounges, meeting rooms, and spectator areas throughout the airport. Free wi-fi is available as well as many charging stations as well as free computers with broadband internet provided by Arqiva. This airport is very large, so be sure to pay attention to the overhead signs or ask on-site staff for help to make sure you've found the correct gate.
Long-term parking is available for terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5, at a cost of $44.50/day on the off-season, or $51.25/day during peak season.
Arriving in Copenhagen
After landing at the airport, follow the overhead signs to collect your baggage and move through customs. Don't forget to stop at the International Currency Exchange to pick up some Danish krone on your way out! To reach your hotel, simply head to the Car Rental Centre to pick up your rental car from Avis, Europcar, Sixt, Hertz, Budget, or Enterprise. You can even book a car ahead of time with Skyscanner so it's ready when you arrive! There are also other transportation options available:
- Taxi ($55, 20 minutes to city centre): Authorized taxis are available at the entrance to terminals 1 and 3.
- Metro ($5-$20, depending on zone): Head to Terminal 3 for the Metro station, which will take you to Vanløse Station. All the trains run in the same direction, so you don't need to worry about hopping on the wrong one.
- Bus ($5-$20, depending on zone): Bus 5A is located just outside of Terminal 3 and stops at most major transit stations in Copenhagen.
Practical Information
Plan on arriving at London Heathrow at least 3 hours before your flight to Copenhagen leaves. That way, you'll have enough time to move through security and find your gate in this massive airport. Canadians can travel to Denmark for up to 90 days without a visa, as long as your passport is valid for at least 3 months from your date of departure.
