Popular Destinations from St. Louis

As a focus city for Southwest Airlines, St. Louis Airport is your gateway to the United States. The airline flies nonstop to dozens of major U.S. cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Tampa, Philadelphia, and Las Vegas. Since American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines also fly many of these routes, you're sure to find a great flight throughout the year.

If you want to soak up a little sun, Xtra Airways flies to resort destinations like Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Punta Cana. Sunny beach vacations are perfect for relaxing and letting the stresses of everyday life fade away.

Travel destinations outside of North America are possible but will require at least one layover. Connections will be at major U.S. airports in cities like Detroit and Atlanta. You can also fly direct from St. Louis to Toronto, Canada to catch a connecting flight. With popular attractions like the CN Tower and Casa Loma, Toronto is also a fun city to visit in itself.

Getting to the Airport

To get to St. Louis Airport, you'll have many transportation options. As there are seven parking lots, finding a space to park your car for a short- or long-term stay will not be a problem. All the lots are located within minutes of the two terminals via a free shuttle service. If you don't have your own transportation, taxis and limousines can drop you off outside of either terminal.

The most affordable transportation option is the MetroLink light rail system, with fares of only a couple dollars. The system has 37 stations within St. Louis and the surrounding area, including one at Terminal 1 and one at Terminal 2. MetroLink trains stop at the airport three to five times per hour, depending on the time of day.

Airport and Travel Tips

St. Louis Airport advises passengers to arrive and check in at least two hours before flight departure. If you're catching a connecting flight and need to transfer terminals, a free shuttle bus runs 24 hours a day. The shuttle picks up every 8-15 minutes at Exit 12 of each terminal. The ride between terminals takes about ten minutes.

If you're travelling with children, they'll love the transportation-themed play area in Terminal 1. The play area includes kid-friendly planes, a miniature air traffic control tower and a mini MetroLink train system to play on. If you're travelling on business, be aware that the airport only provides 20 minutes of free Wi-Fi per day. After that, it will cost about $10 CAD per day to stay connected.
