Davao International Airport Information
Francisco Bangoy International Airport, better known as Davao International Airport (DVO), is Davao City's main airport. Located on the island of Mindanao, the airport serves over three million passengers per year. The airport is a major hub for Cebu Pacific, PAL Express and Philippines AirAsia, all of which fly direct from Manila to Davao City. The airport consists of one large passenger terminal which has been beautifully designed with elements of Malay architecture.
Arrivals are split into a domestic arrivals area and an international arrivals area. Outside of domestic arrivals, there will be many metered taxis waiting. Davao City's downtown core is not far from the airport, so a taxi ride will be quick and fairly inexpensive. Another popular transportation method in the Philippines is the jeepney. Jeepneys were originally made from old U.S. military Jeeps but today's designs are more like oversized passenger vans. Taking a jeepney will be cheaper than a taxi but much more crowded. If you have a lot of baggage, you'll be better off taking a private taxi.
If you will be travelling around the island of Mindanao, you can also rent a car at the airport. Before leaving, remember to take a picture of Davao International Airport's main entrance. The gorgeous glass awnings and interesting pointed roof definitely make the airport photo-worthy.
