Cheap Flights to Fiji

Fiji is the world's most iconic island paradise with all the mainstays of the perfect island vacation picture postcard -- turquoise water, brilliantly colored coral reefs, cute wildlife, lush greenery, ever-sunny skies, pristine cleanliness, and friendly locals. The hundreds of volcanic islands to choose from and its extreme Pacific isolation, all mean that Fiji is rarely crowded. Whether you're looking for a wholesome family vacation, a fun honeymoon spot or somewhere really far away that you simply want to go to, Fiji frankly dazzles.

When and how to travel to Fiji

If you haven't considered Fiji so far because you believe it's too far away, too exotic and probably too expensive, you're not alone. But Fiji isn't necessarily an expensive destination. While there certainly are super-luxury hotels and resorts, there are budget hostels, hotels and guest houses as well, great, affordable food, and inexpensive activities, too. If you'd like to rough it and stay at a hostel, for example, you can get by on C$ 20 a night. A budget hotel room starts at C$ 35 a night, and the big resorts start at C$ 150. If you'd look on a comprehensive travel search website like Skyscanner, you'll even find greater value for your money in hotels and airfares. You only need to set up a low-fare notification, and you'll have the price that you want.

Canadians don't require a visa to come here; all you need is a passport. Winter is the lean season, and you'll have it especially cheap if you choose to come then; but you'll need to put up with plenty of tropical storms. Traveling from July to September is considered best, but prices tend to be much higher. You might find an even balance in the shoulder season, the month of June and October.

Taking Fiji in

Fiji is often called cinematic. Cast Away and The Blue Lagoon were shot here of course, but the adjective points to the prehistoric perfection of this island paradise. For a destination in the middle of nowhere, there's a surprising amount to do here, as well. Certainly, other tropical destinations offer scuba diving off coral reefs with dolphins and rays, a chance to view exotic birds, go surfing or watching wildlife and so on, but Fiji is different, simply because there isn't one thing that's ever out of place. If you're looking for perfection in a holiday, and don't even want to spend much, you should come here.

With the number of islands that Fiji has, you won't find it hard to find privacy -- an island all to yourself. If you do want a few urban pleasures, however, Suva, the capital, has plenty of nightlife -- taverns, dance halls and meet-a-local nights.

Certainly, Fiji is far away from the rest of the world, and you'll need to travel longer to get here. In many ways, however, getting off the beaten path is what travel is supposed to be about.
