Ivory Coast Airport and Airline Options

Though there are many airports in the Ivory Coast, most of them only fly to domestic locations. The busiest airport is the country is Port Bouet Airport (ABJ), also known as Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport or Abidjan Airport. The airport is located about 16 km from Abidjan, the country's largest city, and consists of one terminal.

There are currently no airlines offering direct flights from Canada to the Ivory Coast. However, Port Bouet Airport is connected to Paris via Air France and Corsair International, to Brussels via Brussels Airlines, and to Lisbon via TAP Portugal. Connecting in Europe is the best way to get from Canada to the Ivory Coast.

Bouaké Airport (BYK) is located in the country's second-largest city, Bouaké. The airport is served by the Ivory Coast's flag carrier airline, Air Côte d'Ivoire. The airport only has two destination options, both within the country. Other popular airports, like Odienné Airport (KEO) and San Pédro Airport (SPY), are also served only by Air Côte d'Ivoire.

Arriving at the Airport

Upon arrival in the Ivory Coast, you will be required to show your travel identification, including a visa. All Canadian citizens require a visa to visit the country for any length of time, whether the visit is for tourist, business, or educational purposes.

Port Bouet Airport is connected to Abidjan's city centre by bus for less than $1 CAD per trip. Taxis are also available outside of arrivals, with a minimum fare of about $10 CAD. If you arrive at the airport at night, taxi fees may be doubled. A ride into Abidjan via taxi will take 30-40 minutes. Car rental companies are also available at the airport.
