Cheap Flights from Syria

Syria is in the midst of a devastating civil war and visiting the country is extremely dangerous. Almost all international airlines have suspended service to Syria, and the few airlines that are operating have dodgy safety records and should be avoided. Many of the country's airports have been bombed, abandoned, or taken over for military use. Simply put, it is not possible to go to Syria right now and even if you did go it would be extremely difficult to get out.

The situation is particularly tragic given that until recently Syria was one of the safest and most diverse countries in the Middle East. Different cultures, religions, and ethnicities have made their homes in Syria for thousands of years, and they have managed to coexist in relative peace for much of it. Prior to the war, Syria had a well-earned reputation for the friendliness and hospitality it showed to visitors. Both Damascus and Syria claim to be the world's oldest cities, and Syria is also where you could find some of the most important archaeological treasures on the planet, including the ancient ruins of Bosra and Palmyra, both of which have been extensively damaged in the war. Such a rich history once made Syria one of the the most exciting and breathtaking of countries to visit--and hopefully it will be able to reclaim that reputation in the near-future--but for the time being, the country is strictly off limits to travellers.
