      FAQs about Balearic Islands vacations

There’s never really a bad time to go to the Balearic Islands. Summer is the peak season, offering plenty of sunshine and little rain. For mild temperatures without the tourist crowds, visit in spring or fall. If you’re traveling in winter, Ibiza tends to be slightly warmer than the other islands.
Packed with spectacular beaches, charming towns, cultural sites and natural wonders, the Balearic Islands deserve one to two weeks of your time. If you have less than a week, consider sticking to one island.
First time in Mallorca? In Palma, you’ll have historical architecture, lively plazas and stunning beaches at your fingertips. Ibiza Town promises boutique shopping and a legendary nightlife scene. For something quieter, experience the laid-back charm of Ciutadella de Menorca’s medieval center.
The Balearic Islands are generally safe to visit, but take normal travel precautions. Be mindful of pickpockets in busy areas, and use hotel safes to store valuable items. With sunshine year-round, remember to apply sunscreen when outside, particularly during the middle of the day.
The official languages of the Balearic Islands are Spanish and Catalan, with each island having its own dialect. English is commonly spoken in the tourism industry. Consider picking up a phrasebook and practicing a few Spanish words, like ‘por favor’ (please) and ‘gracias’ (thank you).
You’ll use the euro (€) while in the Balearic Islands. Debit cards, credit cards and digital payments are widely accepted, and ATMs are easy to find in towns and tourist areas. Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it is appreciated. If your bill says ‘servicioincluido’ (service included), the tip is already covered.
