How to Check In, Seat Assignment, Leg Room and Other Fees
Oman Air passengers are able to check-in 24 hours before their flight, up to 90 minutes before, either online or through Oman Air’s mobile application. Passengers are also able to check-in at the airport, though it is recommended that you give yourself enough time at the airport, in case there are any delays or long lines (Oman Air recommends at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure). Gates at the airport will close 60 minutes prior to departure. For flights leaving out of Muscat International airport, Oman Air offers early check-in up to 8 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure. At this time, passengers are able to drop off their baggage and collect boarding passes as long as the individuals who are flying are all present, otherwise, boarding passes will have to be collected when every passenger is present. Passengers are responsible for having all necessary forms of identification on them during the check-in process (passport/photo ID and visas, if necessary).
Passengers flying with Oman Air are able to purchase seats with extra legroom, seats in an exit row, or seats in the front row during the booking process. Passengers are also able to purchase seats after the tickets have been purchased and prior to the flight (online or by phone), or at the airport. Seat selection is subject to availability and fees are charged depending on the class of ticket you’ve purchased. Passengers who are flying in both First and Business classes are able to select any seat they’d like within their class (subject to availability), while Economy will have to pay a surcharge for any non-standard seat options. Passengers who are looking to save some money are able to purchase their seat selections online and save 20%. Oman Air prides itself on being comfortable, regardless of what ticket class you’ve purchased, and even Economy seats have a generous 34-inch pitch to keep you comfortable during your flight.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
With Oman Air, you can fly easy knowing that you are entitled to a very generous baggage allowance, no matter what class your seat ticket is for. For additional bonuses, join Oman Air’s loyalty program, Sinbad, and you can enjoy even more freedom with your baggage (bonuses and weight restrictions increase depending on your Sinbad tier level). The free carry-on luggage allowance for Oman Air depends on your ticketing class. For Economy class, passengers are allotted one bag per person, with a maximum weight of 7kg and maximum dimensions of 115cm (L+W+H). For First class and Business class, passengers are allotted two bags per person with a maximum of 7kg for each bag, and maximum dimensions of 115cm (L+W+H). Passengers are also able to take along a free personal item, in addition to their free carry-on allowance. Personal items include, but are not limited to, purses, overcoats, small cameras, reading materials, and collapsible wheelchairs. If you are traveling with special items (oversized, pets), be sure to call and check with Oman Air prior to your trip to be sure that they will be able to facilitate your travel needs.
For passengers who don’t belong to Oman Air’s Sinbad loyalty program, the luggage allowance for checked baggage is tied to the class of ticket they have purchased.
The maximum weight for any bag is 32kg and the maximum total dimensions per bag are 158cms (L+W+H). If your bags are in excess of these weight/size restrictions, additional fees will apply. The fees for extra baggage depend on the weight and dimensions of your luggage, in addition to your flight path, but discounts will apply if you pre-purchase your additional baggage online prior to your flight for a 20% discount.

Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service Guidelines
On Oman Air domestic flights, children who have not yet reached 2 years of age are able to fly on the lap of an accompanying adult for 10% of the total adult fare (of the adult they are riding with). Children who are under 12 years of age are required to have their own seat but are charged 50% of the adult fare. Adult guardians are only able to fly with one child on their lap and if a parent is traveling with additional children, then seats will have to be purchased for the additional children.
On Oman Air international flights, children who have not yet reached 2 years of age are also able to fly on an accompanying adult’s lap for 20% of the adult fare. Children who are under 12 are able to purchase their own ticket at 75% of the adult fare. If your infant requires its own seat, then the ticketing price will depend on the age bracket they fall into. All children over the age of 12 are charged at a full fare for their ticket.
Pets are unable to fly in the cabin of the aircraft on Oman Air flights unless you are flying with an emotional support/service dog. Emotional support/service dogs are allowed flights with Oman Air as long as you have called the airline and made prior arrangements and have the proper paperwork for your animal, in addition to certified records from a medical profession concerning the nature of your needs with the animal. Passengers are responsible for notifying the airline about their intent to fly with an animal prior to their departure date.
If your animal is accepted for travel by Oman Air, you must ensure that your pet is flying with valid vaccination record and health certificate. In addition, passengers are responsible for ensuring that their pet complies with all entry and exit conditions for both the place of departure and the arrival country. Many countries have specific quarantine procedures for animals entering into your country, so be sure that you are aware of the laws and that you have all the necessary paperwork (to be produced for airport officials as needed) in order to make sure your pet is able to travel on Oman Air.
If you wish to travel with a pet on Oman Air, and it is not an emotional support/service dog, you will need to make arrangements with the airline for your pet to travel as cargo. All animals that travel in the hold of the aircraft are considered excess cargo and fees will apply depending on the weight, dimensions of your animal and its traveling carrier and route of your travel.
