John F. Kennedy International Airport
JFK is one of the busiest passenger airports in the world, so it's recommended that you arrive at least three hours before the flight is scheduled. Delta flights to Montreal from New York depart from Terminal 4 while American flies out of Terminal 8. The airport is easily accessible via the AirTrain, which costs $5 for a single trip and connects directly to the New York subway system.
LaGuardia Airport
Air Canada and American Airlines both operate out of Terminal B, while Delta operates its flights to Montreal out of Terminal C. There's no access to the New York subway at the airport, but city buses run directly to the terminals and provide access from Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Taxis or ride-sharing apps are also an efficient way to get to LaGuardia. It's worth noting that most of the cheapest flights fly out of LaGuardia.
Newark International Airport
Newark may be located across the river in New Jersey, but it's easily accessible to New York via the Newark AirTrain and the PATH system, which services Newark and Manhattan. United departs from Terminal C and Air Canada leaves from Terminal A.

All inbound flights arrive at the same terminal, making the entry process simple. After moving through customs and grabbing any luggage, buses are available to take travellers into the city. The bus service costs CA$10 for a 24-hour pass, runs all day and night, and takes between 45 and 60 minutes from the airport to the center of the city.
What You Need to Know
All international flights from the U.S. require a current passport. Once in Montreal, the Immigration Service queue can be skipped by using the Automated Border Clearance kiosks, provided the traveller has a Canadian passport, is a permanent resident of Canada, or is a U.S. citizen. While many people in Montreal speak English, French is the official language of the city.
