Hotels in Windsor

Windsor, Ontario is the southernmost city in Canada, located just across the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan. Nicknamed the "Rose City", Windsor is known for the beautiful gardens and parks found on its waterfront. Windsor has a very colourful history: as a border town between the U.S. and Canada, it was a major point of entry into Canada for refugees from slavery through the Underground Railroad, a major source of alcohol for Americans during the Prohibition Era, and a key area of conflict during the War of 1812. As a result, it's home to a wide variety of historic sites and museums.

Tourism in Windsor, Ontario

Windsor is home to a surprisingly wide variety of tourist attractions, including two Canadian national historic sites. The Sandwich First Baptist Church was established by Underground Railway refugees, and the François Baby House, which now serves as a community museum, was an important site during the War of 1812.

The Ambassador Bridge, built in 1929, stretches across the Detroit River, crossing the border into Detroit. Windsor's largest waterfront park stretches 5km from the Ambassador Bridge to the Hiram Walker Distillery, and includes many different gardens, walking paths, and the Windsor Sculpture Park, which is home to more than 30 large-scale contemporary sculptures.

Head to Caesars Windsor Casino and Resort for a night out on the town, or take a stroll through Little Italy for world-class restaurants and boutiques. The Art Gallery of Windsor features a wide variety of displays and gorgeous views over the water - you won't want to miss it!
