Cheap Flights to Vilnius Airport

Vilnius is home to one of the fastest-growing airports in all of Europe.  Vilnius Airport (VNO) is only six kilometers away from the historic center of Lithuania's capital, and each year nearly four million travelers use the airport as their gateway to the Baltic countries.  Upon arrival, some head directly for the city's Old Town, where the Gediminas Castle looks down on the many churches below, while others make a run for Uzupis, a quirky neighborhood that has declared itself an independent republic for artists, free thinkers and other bohemians.  Regardless of where in Vilnius travelers are headed, the city's international airport is a fantastic introduction to the region.

Best Time to Book a Flight to Vilnius Airport

High season in Vilnius is the summer months of June, July and August.  During these months the temperature stays close to twenty degrees centigrade, and the city's many cafés, bars and restaurants celebrate the good weather by setting up outdoor tables on every available piece of sidewalk or town square.  Residents also make the most of the short summer season by throwing a never-ending series of festivals and other special events, like Culture Night (with more than 200 performances occurring on a single evening), and the Feast of Saint John on the evening of the summer solstice.  Skyscanner's month search tool lets travelers compare prices throughout any thirty-day period, so you can find the cheapest summer airfare to Vilnius Airport.

Airlines that Fly to Vilnius Airport

Currently, there are no direct flights between Canada and the Vilnius Airport. Instead, travelers can fly with one of the major international airlines, like KLM, Lufthansa or LOT.  These flights will connect through Amsterdam, Frankfurt or Warsaw, respectively.  Many travelers like to include other Baltic countries on their itinerary, so consider booking a multi-city trip into Vilnius and out of one of the region's other airports.

What to Expect When Arriving at the Vilnius Airport

The Vilnius Airport's main terminal is only ten years old, and is a significant upgrade from the site's former Soviet-style facility.  The new building is equipped with free wireless internet, a currency exchange office, ATMs, an information desk and rental car services.  Public city buses #1 and #2 connect the airport to the city center in only fifteen minutes, while bus #88 continues on to the City Business Center.  There is also sporadic train service to the center, and taxis that offer varying rates to central Vilnius.
