Where Is Popular to Fly to?

Hanoi is located in the north of the country, so if you are looking to see the southern side of Vietnam your best option is to fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Formerly called Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is a bustling and dynamic city and Vietnam's commercial capital. There are hundreds of flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh every week. Internationally, Hanoi Airport primarily serves other Asian cities.

Flights to Bangkok, which is another popular destination for travellers, are especially frequent. Seoul is another easy-to-reach destination, as is Tokyo. If you are looking to travel a bit further afield there are a number of flights from Hanoi to Moscow each week, where you can take in the Russian capital's world-famous attractions, including Red Square and the Kremlin. Istanbul, straddling the border between Asia and Europe, is another easily reached city from Hanoi and its dazzling minarets overlooking the shimmering Bosphorus create one of the most stunning and romantic skylines in the world. Getting to Hanoi Airport

Hanoi Airport lies about 35 km north of the city itself. Shuttle buses run from the Old Quarter to the airport, but be warned that you may have to wait until the bus fills up (which can take more than an hour) before the driver will leave. A better option is to have your hotel arrange a taxi for you. As always in Vietnam, you should agree on a fixed price before getting in the cab. Some drivers may insist on a metered fare, however. Schedule at least an hour (more if you're taking the bus) to get from your hotel to the airport.
