Best Time to Book a Flight to Sint Maarten

Featuring a tropical climate, Sint Maarten enjoys warm temperatures and soft ocean breezes year round. The average temperature stays around 27 °C, rarely rising about 34 °C or falling below 20 °C. Like most Caribbean islands, this nation has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy one. Wonderful sunshine and little rain occur between January and April, while August into December is marked by increased rainfall and thunderstorms. Be cautious when you're booking travel to Sint Marteen to avoid Hurricane Season, lasting from June 1 to November 31.

Airports in Sint Maarten

Princess Juliana International Airport

Located on Saint Martin's Dutch side, Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) is the easiest way to reach your hotel in Sint Maarten. It's the island's busiest and biggest airport, handling flights from Canada, USA, Europe, and other Caribbean nations. Inside SXM's 4-story terminal, you'll find over 40 boutiques, souvenir shops, and dining establishments, including some which are exclusive to the airport. This airport was considerably damaged by Hurricane Irma in September 2017, but it's still hosting flights during the rebuilding process.

Grand Case-Espérance Airport

The French side of Saint Martin also has an international airport, Grand Case-Espérance Airport (SFG). This smaller airport is ideal if you're travelling to Sint Maarten from another Caribbean nation, like Saint Barthélemy, Martinique, or Grande-Terre. SFG doesn't offer flights from mainland Europe and North America. However, Saint-Martin's airport still provides a useful gateway into Sint Maarten for some travellers, specifically island hoppers.
