Quite okay. Poorly insulated ceilings, and as a result, you can hear every step of the roommates above the room.

We were here over the weekend. Check-in, etc., is electronic via mobile phone (including checkout...), which may be off-putting for older guests. The breakfast room is in the basement and can only be reached by foot... again, not so great for older guests. The rooms are large, and the bathroom was freshly renovated. Breakfast itself is very good (salmon and champagne available), otherwise quite limited, and there are no coffee machines for special requests (latte macchiato, etc.). What bothered us the most was the noise from above caused by the steps of other hotel guests. There is no hotel bar and no restaurant. We know the HKK across the street, and it is clearly better and also cheaper.

Pleasant and very centrally located hotel

It is a pleasant, slightly dated hotel that is very centrally located.
The staff is super friendly and accommodating.
A small downer: the water in my sink drained very slowly. I reported it, but apparently it's not that easy to fix.
Like almost everyone in this forum, I would particularly like to emphasize the extremely generous and varied breakfast.
Overall, great value for money!

very old, great breakfast

+ friendly and helpful staff
+ central location, only 5-10 minutes walk to the town hall
+ free parking spaces in front of the door (although only a small number)
+ large selection at the breakfast buffet
+ I found the personalized greeting on arrival on a small board in the entrance area very nice and original
- in need of renovation, showing its age: mold on the shower wall, crack in the sink, broken towel rack, dim light in the room
- unpleasant smell in the room/bathroom
- there are smoking rooms and the door to the outside, where people smoked, was open... You can smell the smoke in the room, on the cleaning carts, in the hallways
- our booked family room (3 people) only had 2 drinking glasses and toothbrush mugs. We were given another glass each on request. There was also no table (one was brought to us on request) and only two chairs. Nothing dramatic, but these seemingly small things showed that they had not "thought things through"
Conclusion: we would not book at this hotel again.

Gladly again

Very lovingly furnished hotel, you should pay attention to the little things that give this hotel charm, flowers on the table, successful decoration, very friendly staff.
The reception is always manned and always ready to answer questions and fulfill requests.
The breakfast buffet was the best we have seen in all our holidays, there was really nothing missing.
Located close to the city center and yet quiet, it is the perfect starting point for a holiday in the Harz.
We would love to come back.

Great place to hike the Harz

We stayed here one night to start a hike into the Harz mountains the next day. Check in was quick - we arrived quite late in the night and appreciated this. The room was spacious and very clean. We had a good night's sleep. The breakfast spread was huge and amazing. As a vegetarian, I could still eat plenty of good food.
