There's not much going on in Kampot, and that's the appeal. This relaxed little town on a river is nice for a weekend away, or a short stop on your way to nearby Kep. The area is known for its pepper, which you can buy direct from local farms.
Interesting small city in Cambodia. Very typical city & rural life within a few meters. Hot & humid of course, bring water & a hat and a pair of good walking shoes.
Kampot is a quiet river town and is several hours south of Phnom Penh. There's not much to do other than to sit, eat Kampot peppered meals, relax and soak up the view of the scenic countryside. It's great for a weekend getaway.
Kampot has the feeling of being once-mighty, yet up-and-coming at the same time. Not really on the way to anywhere, it is slow paced, relaxing, and pretty. I recommend renting a motorbike and exploring the countryside!
