Funky little backpackers

Stayed overnight in a double room. The rooms are very functional and comfortable and the basin in the room was an added bonus. Considering how busy the hostel was when we stayed, it was reasonably quiet at night. Some running repairs may be in order as some of the toilet and shower doors did not shut. Facilities are comfortable and homely and the kitchen well thought out, although crockery seemed very limited. Location is brilliant. Great bar and restaurants across the road. Lots of great cafes to choose from around the corner in the main street which fronts Woolgoolga Beach. There also appears to be a lot of fruit picking options for backpackers looking for work while staying. Highly recommend.

Bad wifi, dirty bathrooms

The staff was very friendly and the private room was nice and clean. However, the wifi did not work in our room, only in certain spaces of the building. The bathroom wasn’t very clean and there were roaches. The kitchen was okay and the common area too.

Rude owner, dirty and noisy.

- Owner is very rude, especially when things don’t go his way. Politely asked for a refund and his response almost escalated into a tense situation.
- Private room was filthy, linen full of dust
- There were dogs walking inside the backpackers all day long and I foun several cockroaches in the kitchen area.

Drinks@Sam’s

Laid back atmosphere with some drinks on tap. Bar attendant was positive. Time for a refresh as the pool table & limited recycled furniture were worn out. Nonetheless a good spot for a pre-dinner drink being opposite restaurants.

Good location, a little tlc would make all the difference

One night stay in female dorm with private, cubicle beds. Although a nice temperature outside, the dorm was stuffy and a fan needed all night. I received multiple mossie bites, bedding was clean. Personal belongings were everywhere as some long term travellers staying and working in the area. Bathrooms, ok. Only outdoor area was filthy and not pleasant to sit in so a balance between being hot inside and a good temperature out but in a dirty environment. Kitchen was ok but the fridge overloaded and not really cold as it was so full and doors didn't stick properly. One night ok, more, no thanks.
