Featuring a subtropical climate, Kenya's Nairobi has two peak seasons for tourists. If you want to avoid the rainy months, travel here between June and September, or January and February. There's heavy rainfall in the city from March into May, making roads muddy and sightseeing less feasible. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO)

Most international travellers choose to fly into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), Nairobi's biggest and busiest airport, which served more than 7 million people in 2016. Situated in the suburb of Embakasi, this two-terminal airport is 15 km away from Downtown Nairobi. With direct flights arriving every day from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and other African nations, NBO offers travel to more than 50 countries worldwide.

As mentioned before, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 2 handles all of the low-cost carriers, like Fly 540, Jubba Airways, and East African Safari Air. Meanwhile, Terminal 1 is divided into five different concourses. 1D hosts the domestic arrivals and departures, while 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1E manage the international flights to and from NBO.

The best way to reach your hotel in Nairobi from Jomo Kenyatta Airport is by taxi. Make sure, however, that you hop inside a reputable taxi. These taxis should be waiting for travellers outside the Arrivals area. If you're feeling fancy, Westlands offers chauffeured cars to bring you into downtown, which are more upscale than your average taxi.

Wilson Airport (WIL)

Located 18 km west of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is Wilson Airport (WIL), a smaller international airport. Specializing in domestic and regional travel from nearby African countries, WIL sits 4 km from Downtown Nairobi. This airport is a good choice for those travelling within Eastern Africa. However, serving only three flight carriers, WIL's arrival and departures schedules can be limited.
