Bonaire International Airport currently consists of one passenger terminal though plans to expand the airport are in the works. The airport's nickname, Flamingo International Airport, comes from the terminal building's pink colouring.

Kralendijk, the island's capital, is located just a few minutes away from the airport. In fact, the island is so small that you can drive around the entire land mass in just a few short hours. If you want to explore Bonaire, renting a car is a great idea. Five car rental companies have service counters at the airport, including Hertz and Avis. Taxis are also available at arrivals and take less than ten minutes to get to Kralendijk's city centre.

Bonaire International Airport Facilities

BON airport is a small airport with relatively few amenities. Restaurants, souvenir shops, ATMs, and public use telephones are all available in the terminal's main area. If you're flying in during off-peak times, the airport's restaurants and shops may be closed. Luckily, there are many great hotels in the nearby area. The airport also currently offers free Wi-Fi.

What to See and Do in Kralendijk

There are many island adventures to be had on Bonaire Island. Lac Bay and Sorobon Beach are both great places for swimming and snorkeling. You can also soak up some sun and enjoy the beautiful views from their sandy beaches. Boating, fishing, and windsurfing are other popular outdoor activities.
