Best Time to Book a Flight to Atlanta
Visit Atlanta in the summer when temps average 32 degrees Celsius and the humidity is at its heaviest and you'll appreciate the custom of sipping sweet tea on a shaded porch. Winters get down to around 11 degrees Celsius, usually in December and February. It rarely snows, but you'll get lots of rain. The most popular time to visit is in April and May and again from October through November when the weather is most pleasant. Airlines and Passenger Services at Atlanta International Airport
Located only 11 kilometres from downtown Atlanta, the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport welcomes guests to two terminals and seven concourses handling nearly 200 gates. The Domestic Terminal has two sides. Terminal South is used by Delta, the hub airline. Terminal North handles all other domestic carriers, including American, Alaska, Frontier, JetBlue Southwest, Spirit and United. The Maynard Holdbrook Jackson Jr. International Terminal is separate. Some of the international carriers are Aeromexico, Air Canada, Air France, British Airways, KLM, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic. Shops, eateries and services are available throughout the airport, as is Wi-Fi.
All terminals and the concourses are connected by a series of underground passenger moving walkways called the Transportation Mall. The automated Plane Train, a people mover, also runs the length of the Transportation Mall and has designated stops. The Plane Train will also take you to baggage claim.
If you're looking for a rental car, take the ATL SkyTrain, another automated people mover that connects the airport to the Rental Car Center and its 13 car companies. That SkyTrain will also take you to the Georgia International Convention Center and several airport hotels. Atlanta Airport is also connected to the city's rapid transit train, MARTA. The station is between the north and south domestic terminals, in the main entry building. Shuttles are available at various pick-up points, averaging $20.00 CAD per person to downtown Atlanta.
