Airport Options in Hong Kong

Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is currently the only airport option for passenger flights from Hong Kong. The airport sits on the island of Chek Lap Kok and is known informally as Chek Lap Kok Airport. HKG is a hub for the country's flag carrier airline, Cathay Pacific, and is a focus city for China Airlines and China Eastern Airlines. With 90 boarding gates, two passenger terminals, and two concourses, HKG has the capacity to serve 70 million passengers per year. By 2030, this capacity will be increased to meet rising demands.

Though there are certain former Hong Kong airports which are still standing, they have not been operational for many years. The Shek Kong Airfield is open for civilian use on the weekends, but only for private aircrafts. The rest of the time, it is a military airbase.
