Air2There is a small New Zealand carrier that provides both charter service throughout the country and scheduled flights across the Cook Strait. The airline is headquartered and based at the Kapiti Coast Airport in Paraparaumu, which lies about 60 km north of Wellington. The airline was established in order to fill the need for fast and affordable regional service for locals and visitors to the area.
Air2There was founded in October of 2004 by Murray Cole, a former owner of the Kapiti Coast Airport. Cole funded the airline through his company, Integra Investments, after identifying the need to provide a regional alternative to the Wellington Airport. Air2There began flight service with two Chieftains and a Grand Caravan soon after. Its initial scheduled flight network included more destinations than the airline flies to today. By 2005, however, it was clear that there was no market for the additional flights, and Air2There scaled back its service to a few select and high-demand scheduled routes.
You'll likely be taking a few connecting flights in order to connect with Air2There's charter or scheduled route network. Ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey by downloading the Skyscanner mobile app for iPhone or Android ahead of your trip. Not only will the app help you find the best deals on hotels and car rentals, it will also automatically synchronize your hotels and car rentals along with your flights.
Air2There can provide charter services to just about any destination in New Zealand. Charter estimates and bookings are all provided through the website, but you can also contact the airline by phone to discuss your requirements. The airline's scheduled flights, on the other hand, provide service to three airports in the Cook Strait area: the Kapiti Coast Airport in Paraparaumu, the Woodbourne Airport in Blenheim, and the Nelson Airport in Nelson. Each of these three locales is a wonderful place to visit and have an authentic New Zealand adventure.
The town of Paraparaumu, where Air2There is headquartered, is centrally located near numerous family-friendly activities. You'll find a selection of specialty shops and a farm walk at Lindale Farm Park just to the north and great spots for rafting and kayaking at Otaki Gorge to the east. You might even get a chance to visit nearby Kapiti Island, which serves as a native bird sanctuary.
Blenheim sits right on the tip of New Zealand's South Island, in the Marlborough region. It has one of the sunniest climates in the country and is known for its flourishing wine industry. The town has many beautiful parks and a reconstructed colonial village that houses a collection of restored colonial buildings.
The city of Nelson also lies on the shores of South Island. It is known for its lively and artistic atmosphere and wonderful climate. In the city centre, you'll find a variety of restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops to explore, as well as numerous art galleries. Make sure you also visit nearby Tahunanui. This seaside suburb has a beautiful long beach where you can easily spend a whole day.
The backbone of the Air2There fleet is the Cessna 208 B Grand Caravan with a 14-seat configuration. This small aircraft is well-suited for providing fast and comfortable service on the airline's scheduled routes to Nelson, Blenheim, and Paraparaumu. Air2There also has additional aircraft for its nation-wide charters, including the BAe Jetstream 31, BAe Jetstream 32, Piper PA-31, and Piper PA-34-220T Seneca III.
Loyalty Programs, Discounts and Miles promotions
As a small, regional carrier, Air2There does not have its own loyalty program nor does it participate in any frequent flier programs with larger airlines. Air2There does, however, offer a discounted multipass concession that can be used on all routes and a discounted concession for routes between Paraparaumu and Blenheim.
If you have an entertainment guide voucher from Air2There, then you have to follow a few important steps in order to redeem it. First, go online and make your flight booking, paying the required fare. Voucher discounts only apply on Air2There flights with a standard fare, and they cannot be used for any flights between December 20th and January 20th. You'll have to note that you will be using a voucher when you book your flight in the provided "notes" field. Once your booking is complete, you need to send your voucher by post to PO BOX 349 Paraparaumu, along with your four-digit booking code. A refund for the discount will be issued to your credit card once Air2There receives your voucher.
How to Check In, Seating Assignment, Leg Room and Other Fees
Air2There requests that all passengers be ready to board 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time displayed on their flight confirmation. The airline cannot guarantee accommodation for late passengers. You don't need a ticket or a boarding pass in order to board an Air2There flight. Each flight booking comes with its own unique reference number which is connected to your name. When you arrive at the check-in counter at the airport, you only need to provide your name and, if requested, a piece of identification. The check-in counter is also where you can present and drop off any baggage.
At the Kapiti Coast Airport, you'll find the Air2There check-in counter near the control tower. At the Blenheim Airport, the Air2There check-in counter will be located just to your right-hand side in the main terminal hall as you enter inside. At the Nelson Airport, the Air2There counter is in the large HZN building that you'll find to the left of the old airport terminal.
Passengers who will require special assistance while boarding and disembarking the aircraft are requested to contact Air2There ahead of time so that the airline can make sufficient arrangements for their safety and comfort. This includes pregnant women, passengers with illness, and passengers with mobility problems.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Every fare-paying passenger flying with Air2There has a free baggage allowance of 15 kg. The airline's policy is to charge each kilogram over this allowance at a rate of $3. Air2There does attempt to carry up to 20 kg for each passenger for free, but they cannot always guarantee this leniency due to capacity constraints. Passengers who have purchased a Flexifare always have a 25 kg baggage allowance free of charge. Air2There also allows passengers who are travelling on the same booking to combine their total baggage allowance. However, no individual piece of baggage may exceed 30 kg.
Each passenger is also allowed to bring one carry-on bag into the aircraft cabin that weighs up to a maximum of 5 kg. Note that your carry-on bag will count towards your free baggage allowance. If you bring a 5 kg carry-on bag, then, on a regular fare, you may only check an additional 10 kg.
If you want to bring a piece of baggage which is within the accepted weight allowance but which is particularly large or bulky, then you must contact Air2There ahead of time. This includes items such as skis, surfboards, or bicycles. Your item will be accepted if there is space permitting aboard the aircraft. If not, then it will be sent on a later flight.
Service On Board: In-flight Entertainment and Meals
Air2There does not offer onboard meal service and its small aircraft do not come with in-flight entertainment systems. There's no need to worry, however, as all of the airline's scheduled flights are less than one hour in duration. Bring a snack on board if you think you might be peckish and pass the time by taking in the view from the window.
Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service guidelines
Infants over seven days old and up to 24 months of age may travel for free on an Air2There flight when held by an adult passenger. Note, however, that your infant will count towards your free baggage weight allowance. If you wish to purchase an additional seat for your child, then you will need to pay a full adult fare. Only two infants are allowed per Air2There flight, so make sure you contact the airline ahead of time to secure a reservation for your child. The airline does not allow more than one infant to travel with one adult.
Air2There provides Unaccompanied Minor service but you need to contact the airline directly ahead of time either in person or by phone in order to secure the service for your child. Sometimes, Air2There will allow a child over seven years of age to accompany a five- or six-year-old sibling, but only if the older sibling is deemed competent enough to look after the younger one.
Air2There accepts pets and other animals for transport on certain conditions. The animal must be in good health, fit to travel, and transported in a suitable carrier. You must also contact Air2There well ahead of your flight in order to secure space for your pet or animal on the aircraft. Animals will be accepted for a minimum fee of $50 plus an extra $5 charge for every additional kilogram over 10 kg. The weight of the animal and its carrier are considered together.
