Košice Airport (KSC) is the second largest international airport in Slovakia, serving about 800000 passengers per year. It is located about 6km south of St. Elisabeth Cathedral in Košice. It offers a flights to a variety of international destinations throughout Europe, as well as domestic flights inside Slovakia.

June, July, and August are the most popular months to visit Slovakia due its warm weather with few rainy days. Getting to Košice International Airport

KSC is not a major hub for any airline, but does offer flights through Austrian Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Czech Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Wizz Air year-round. There are also seasonal flights available through SmartWings in the summer, as well as charter flights available to locations throughout Slovakia.

Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Canada to Košice International Airport. To get there, you'll have to route through Vienna (VIE), Prague (PRG), or Warsaw (WAW).

Slovakia is part of the Schengen area, which means that Canadians can visit without a visa for up to 90 days. However, you'll still need a passport that is valid for at least 3 months past your date of departure. As a Canadian, you can travel within any Schengen area countries during your 90-day stay, but will require a visa for any trips longer than that.

Košice International Airport Facilities

Košice Airport is a small airport with only one terminal, which makes it easy to find everything you need! There is an airport lounge on the first floor. If you don't have membership access at the airport, you can still pay your way into the lounge for around $30 CAD. There is free Wi-Fi available to all lounge visitors. There is one duty-free shop on the first floor, as well as two restaurants that are open until 2:30 PM every day. There are several on-site car rental agencies, as well as taxis and a bus service that can take you to downtown Košice in around 20 minutes.

What to Do in Košice

Košice's origins date back to medieval times, and it has the architecture to prove it! The city's main square contains two Gothic churches: the massive St. Elisabeth Cathedral and the smaller but still impressive St. Michael Chapel. If you love history, you have to check out the Lower Gate archeological complex, which contains preserved fortifications from the 1200s.

For something a little off-beat, head to the nearby St. Urban's Tower, which contains a quirky museum of wax figurines. Or, for a day the whole family will enjoy, head to Košice Zoo to walk the wooden paths through the forest and observe the animals, then head to DinoPark Košice at the opposite end of the park for a dinosaur exhibit the kids will love!
