Cheap Flights to Taipei
As the capital of the Republic of China, Taipei is one of the busiest and most developed cities in the region. First designated as capital in 1875, when Taipei Basin was part of Tamsui County, today's Taipei is a bright, bustling hub of tourism and business that is home to 2.7 million inhabitants. Taipei owes its culture to strong Chinese and Japanese influences, which make this cosmopolitan city a welcoming destination for travellers from all over the world.
Many tourists head for Ximending, an area known for its countless movie theatres, retail shops, live shows, and homages to pop culture. The residential neighbourhood of Da'an offers small, charming boutiques for travellers who want to avoid the crowds, while those seeking a sophisticated getaway will find it in East District, home to the city's most stylish restaurants and shopping malls. Another popular district is Xinyi, where visitors will find fantastic shopping, high-end restaurants, and luxury accommodations. Taiwan's iconic tower, Taipei 101, is also located in Xinyi.
Best Time to Fly to Taipei
The best time to visit Taipei is between October and January, when temperatures are comfortably cool. Taipei experiences a rainy season from April to October, with an occasional typhoon occurring during the summer months. Most of the city's attractions are closed during the Chinese New Year celebrations, which usually take place in late January or early February; you'll want to avoid booking a flight at this time if sightseeing is the main goal of your trip.
