Airlines that Fly to Shenyang Airport

Shenyang Airport is an important regional airport that is served by a growing list of airlines. The airport is a focus city for China Southern Airlines, which offers the most flights to and from Shenyang, both to domestic destinations, but also to airports in Japan, Thailand, and South Korea. Shenzhen Airlines is another important carrier at the airport, as are China Eastern Airlines and Spring Airlines. A handful of international carriers operate flights to destinations in East Asia, including All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, and Korean Air. Beijing Capital Airlines, meanwhile, offers flights to Melbourne while Lufthansa plans on offering flights to Frankfurt starting in 2018.

What to Expect When Arriving at the Airport

Shenyang Airport is located approximately 25 km away from the city centre. The newly built Shenyang Tram operates Line 2 to the airport and provides a cheap mode of transportation with connections to Shenyang's metro system. However, the shuttle bus may provide a more convenient option for getting to the city centre, which runs to the China Northern Airlines office on Zhonghua Road. Taxis are also plentiful and you may choose to rent a car for greater convenience when getting around.

Airport Facilities

Shenyang Airport is a new and modern facility with plenty of fast food options for grabbing a bite and spending some time as you wait for your flight. There are also a number of shopping options, although they are on the pricey side. Be aware that while facilities are top notch, Shenyang Airport gets limited visitors from outside of China, meaning that it can sometimes be difficult to find staff who speak English.

What to See and Do in Shenyang

Mukden Palace is one of only two royal palaces that are still standing in China and the only one outside of Beijing. This UNESCO World Heritage Site contains fantastic carvings and paintings and the exhibits shine a light on Shenyang's imperial past.
