Best Time to Fly to São Paulo

São Paulo's peak tourist season runs from June to August, when the weather is balmy and most of the city's attractions are open. Hotel rates and flight prices can be prohibitively high at this time of year, however, so it's best to travel during the offf-peak season if saving on travel costs is your goal. Booking your trip during the spring or fall season (March to May or September to November) is your best bet for enjoying idyllic weather in São Paulo while still having enough room left in your budget to experience the city's best attractions.

Airports in São Paulo

São Paulo has two commercial airports: International flights arriving in São Paulo are served by two airports: Guarulhos International Airport (GRU), which handles both domestic and international flights; and Congonhas Airport (CGH), which serves mostly domestic routes and a handful of international flights.

Guarulhos International Airport is located approximately 29 kilometres from the city centre and serves as the main gateway to São Paulo. Travel Tips

The main language spoken in São Paulo is Portuguese. Not many locals speak or understand English, so it's a good idea to learn a few local words and phrases before arriving in the city. São Paulo is generally safe for tourists, but petty crimes like pickpocketing are common -- especially on public transit. Always be aware of your surroundings, and keep any valuable belongings out of plain sight.
