Discover Kochi

If you dream of seeing the Queen of the Arabian Sea in all her bejeweled splendor, a trip to Kochi (Cochin) is your wake up call. Located in the southwest section of India's Kerala state, Kochi has been one of the world's most recognized natural ports since the 14th century. The city's history and culture are reflected and divided between its modern luxury and ancient wonders. From spas, shopping excursions, Kerala cooking lessons, beach and island hopping, and spiritual awakening, a Kochi vacation promises to be a mesmerizing experience for all.

Arrival at Cochin International Airport

Cochin International Airport (COK) is the largest and most active airport in the state of Kerala. With over 2 million square feet of area, terminal 3 alone is the nation's fourth-largest terminal. Cochin International Airport also happens to be the world's first fully operational solar-powered airport. Its modern amenities may make you want to set up camp right inside. Aerobridges, currency exchanges, conference halls, a child care room, coffee shops, guestrooms, reserved and VIP lounges, restaurant, Wi-Fi internet cafe, and world-class duty-free shops ensure comfort and convenience for the entire family.

Low-floor, air-conditioned buses provide a popular, inexpensive transportation option not only to and from the airport but throughout the city. Taxis (or Uber if preferred) are another option for around 50 Rs ($1 CAD) for the first 3 km and 8 Rs ($0.16 CAD) for each additional km. Ferries, however, are the fastest and often most enjoyable mode of transportation to and from the mainland. Personal driving is not encouraged for tourists unless you are familiar with the area or are a true adventure seeker.

Must See Excursions and Activities in Kochi

Built for modern enjoyment, Marine Drive faces the backwaters for a splendid view. Shops, malls, and eateries dot the walkway and encourage hundreds of visitors nightly. Despite its name, Marine Drive is closed to cars but does contain several boat jetties. Restaurants such as Ginger House and Malabar Junction offer a more extravagant meal.

Temples, synagogues, churches, a basilica, forts, and palaces invite locals and tourists to connect to Kochi on a spiritual level. Tips for Your Kochi Vacation

Explorers, traders, and travelers have been summoned to Kochi's majestic shores for over 600 years. Of course, so have the mosquitos. Kochi is the worst city in India for the biting bugs, so load up on bug spray. Most hotels provide coils for outdoor usage. Nets and thick clothing also help. With an average temperature of 30°C and yearly lows of 25°C in August, you'll want to be out and about.
