Flying out of Montréal

Montréal’s Trudeau airport (also called Dorval Airport after the neighborhood that it is located in), is only 16 km from downtown. Making the trip to the airport is straightforward enough. You have the 747 bus route that takes $8, or the VIA rail, which has a stop a mile away. Taking a taxi, however, is likely to be the least complicated way to come in.

It’s important to remember to give yourself some extra time for the trip. Not only is there extensive construction on the roads leading up to the airport, snow can make travel particularly slow. Thankfully, it’s a single terminal airport, so there is no time wasted finding the right building to enter.

Montréal airport can be can confusing and frustrating once you get in, however. There tend to be long lines and long walks everywhere, and signage can be poor. It should be good idea to come in with a couple of extra hours on hand. If you do manage to make good time getting through the formalities, you do have the option to spend your time pleasurably at one of the airport’s many wonderful restaurants.

Arriving at Copenhagen Kastrup

Copenhagen Kastrup airport is a two-terminal facility that is efficient and friendly. They’ve even set aside areas where people can simply lie down and sleep (the gates A-18 to A-34 in Terminal 2 is such a place.

It’s important to keep in mind that some things to do need improvement. Unlike many airports, there is are no family lines for passport or security. It can be hard to stand separately in line when you have little children to take care of. The airport’s facilities are easily overwhelmed when a large plane like a full Airbus A380 comes in, as well. For a while, the lines can be unbelievably long. When you make a booking, then, it would be a good idea to pick a regular-sized plane, and not super large one.

The airport has all the facilities you might need -- luggage storage lockers, medical services, children’s play areas, baby care facilities and so on.

Leaving the airport to get to the city is most easily done by public transportation. You can buy individual tickets on the bus or travel cards. The Lufthavnen Metro station is by Terminal 3, and takes you to the city in 15 minutes, and there is a separate train at the same complex. There are many car-rental desks if you’d like to drive yourself there. The easiest way to get your trip started, however, is to simply hop on a hotel shuttle. If you haven’t made reservations, you simply need to head over to Skyscanner to look for deals now.
