Fort McMurray Airport (YMM) is located just 16km from downtown Fort McMurray, making it easy to reach via car or taxi. Long-term parking is available near the main terminal in Lot C for just $100/week or $17/day. If you're flying out of the north terminal instead, parking $15/day, or $2000/year for an unlimited annual parking pass.
YMM is the largest airport in northern Alberta, with several shops and restaurants to explore while you wait for your flight. There is an observation deck and art exhibits by local artists to check out as well. There is free wi-fi available, as well as charging stations built into all of the seating in the departures area to top up all of your devices before you fly away.
Arriving at Toronto Pearson International
After landing at Toronto Pearson (YYZ), follow the overhead signs to collect your bags and head to the exit. To get to your hotel quickly, take one of these transportation options:
- Taxi ($60 to downtown, 30 minutes): Taxis are available on the ground floor of Terminals 1 and 3. Prices are set based on which zone you're traveling to, but the average fare is $50-$75. Plan on an extra 5-10% to tip your driver.
- Rental Car: Head to level 1 of the Terminal 1 or 3 parking garages to find desks for 6 major car rental companies, including Avis, Budget, Hertz, Enterprise, National, or Dollar Thrifty. If you booked ahead of time with Skyscanner, your car will be waiting for you when you arrive!
- Public Transit ($3, 75 minutes): The TTC (public transit) is cheap in Toronto, but it may mean a long trip with multiple transfers to reach your destination. The 192 Airport Rocket bus can take you to Kipling station, where there is a central subway line that can take you to any other part of the city.
- Train ($24, 25 minutes to downtown): The Union Pearson Express train departs every 15 minutes to Union Station, on the ground floor of Terminals 1 and 3.
Practical Information
Plan on arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before your flight departs, so you have enough time to get through security and make it to your gate. To board any domestic flight in Canada, you'll need a piece of government-issued photo ID, like a passport or driver's license.
