Information About La Guardia Airport in New York
A historic airport that is made up of five terminals, A through D, with an additional General Aviation Terminal. Each terminal dates from a different era in modern American history and has varying designs and facilities.
- Terminal A is also known as the Marine Air Terminal and is home to a large mural that dates from the Roosevelt-era Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project of the 1940s.
- Terminal B was designed and built in the 1960s, and. functions as the central terminal building that hosts most of the airport's international travelers.
- Terminal C This terminal, which is jointly operated by Delta and US Airways, handles about half of the airport's regional and national traffic.
- Terminal D was specifically built to accommodate the new Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft in the 1990s. Today, Delta uses most of the terminal, except for a single gate, which is where you can find Canadian airline Westjet.
- General Aviation Terminal is not presently open to the public, as it is currently being used for private, chartered flights.
La Guardia has ample amenities, as you would expect from an international airport in a city the size of New York, so it's easy to stay busy on a stopover or find accommodations if you're staying. There are more than 60 restaurants throughout the airport, most of the shopping in Terminal B, and a Gourmet Market in Terminals C and D. There's a sophisticated network of buses that can take you anywhere you want to go in the city, including free shuttles to the other metro airports.
