Discover Juba
Established in June 2011, South Sudan is one of the world's newest countries. It was birthed after Central Africa's Sudan split into two pieces, allowing the fledgling nation its independence. However, it wasn't long before South Sudan was overtaken by a brutal civil war between the government and rebel groups.
It's heavily discouraged that you visit South Sudan until its internal conflicts are resolved. Simply put, you won't be safe. However, if you must visit this tumultuous African republic, Juba International Airport (JUB) is one of the country's main portals into the world. Skyscanner can help you find the cheapest airfare to Juba, South Sudan. Just use the Cheapest Month search tool! You can also sign up for our Price Alerts feature to get email updates on flight deals.
Travel Advisory
As of August 2017, the Government of Canada warns against all travel to Juba and the rest of South Sudan. The country is war torn from years of violent conflict between ethnic groups and its crime level is very, very high. Unless you must visit Juba, please steer clear of this dangerous nation.

What to Expect When Arriving at Juba Airport
Sitting in South Sudan's capital of Juba, you'll find Juba International Airport (JUB), a rudimentary airport offering flights within Africa. It's located on the White Nile's western shores, just northeast of Juba's downtown business area. Alongside Malakal Airport, JUB is one of South Sudan's two international airports. Unfortunately, it doesn't have amazing reviews with passengers and the amenities leave much to be desired. The airport also hosts military airplanes and aid efforts organized by UN groups, NGOs, and humanitarian workers.
What to See and Do in Juba, South Sudan
Should the conflicts in South Sudan settle down, Juba is a city with much potential. There's lots of natural wildlife, the Nile's iconic shores, and a rich heritage of cultural traditions. However, right now, it's extremely unsafe to travel through Juba as a foreigner. Carjackings are a huge problem in South Sudan's capital, so many travellers opt to hire a Sudanese driver and always keep their car doors locked. Nighttimes are especially dangerous. That being said, Juba still hosts an ex-pat community of Kenyans, Ugandans, and Westerners. So, you will find multicultural restaurants, assorted bars, and other hotspots around town.
